The state government on Tuesday will provide financial assistance under the 'YSSAR-Vahanamitra' scheme to reassure auto, taxi and maxi cab drivers who are struggling during the Corona crisis. For the third year in a row, the government will provide financial assistance to eligible drivers under the scheme. In view of the dire situation in Corona, YSSAR has decided to provide financial assistance under the Vahanamitra scheme a month in advance this year.
The scheme will benefit 2,48,468 beneficiaries this year at a rate of Rs 10,000 each for vehicle repairs, insurance and other expenses.
Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Tuesday deposited Rs 248.47 crore directly in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries by pressing a computer button from the Thadepalli camp office. The government has so far disbursed Rs 759 crore to drivers, including cash deposited on Tuesday.
Most of them are BCs. BCs are the highest number of beneficiaries selected under this scheme. Of the total 2,48,468 beneficiaries, 1,38,372 are BCs and Muslim minorities combined.
