The distribution of increased pension money across the state to 25.11 lakh beneficiaries was completed on the first day. It is learned that Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Saturday afternoon formally launched a program to increase the pension from Rs 2,250 to Rs 2,500.
Thereafter the distribution of pensions at the homes of the beneficiaries under the auspices of volunteers continued across the state. In January, the government released funds amounting to Rs 1,570.06 crore for 61,74,593 beneficiaries. A total of Rs 639.04 crore was disbursed to 25,11,909 beneficiaries till 10 pm on Saturday. Krishna and Vyssar districts have the highest over 50 per cent distribution.

In Guntur district Pratipada, the authorities have set up special TVs at farmer assurance centers all over the state to broadcast live on the pension augmentation program under Chief Minister YS Jagan. Pension augmentation programs continued under the auspices of the District In-Charge and Local Ministers in all the districts. Local MLAs, ZDP chairpersons, MPPs, ZPTCs and other public representatives along with volunteers participated in the distribution of pensions and conducted face-to-face programs with the beneficiaries at various places across the state. Copies of the letter written by CM Jaganmohan Reddy to the beneficiaries on the occasion of raising the pension to Rs 2,500 were handed over to the beneficiaries himself.
