Many states including AP are showing reluctance saying that due to shortcomings in this scheme, not many people will benefit. It is only applicable to some food crops. Due to this, the farmers who are cultivating various crops are facing insurance or loss. In this background, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has announced changes in crop insurance as per the suggestions of various states.

With this, e-crop details will be linked to Fasal Bima in AP. Chief Minister Jagan also appealed to farmers to provide maximum benefits in crop insurance in view of the visit of the Union Agriculture Department team to the state on 7th of this month. To this extent, the Center has agreed to make changes in the guidelines of Fasal Bima Yojana. With this, crop insurance will be implemented in the state from this year. CM Jagan spoke from Tadepalli camp office in the virtual conference organized by Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar from Delhi on Tuesday morning.
Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) stands as a shield for farmers. It is very resilient in times of crop damage due to natural calamities. All the states joined when the Center announced the scheme for the benefit of farmers. After that some states withdrew.

Farmers will benefit only if they move forward by overcoming the shortcomings. We are making changes as per the instructions given by CM Jagan during the central team's visit to AP.
