Free crop insurance was implemented in Kharif last year based on this crop registration. Compensation is paid for crops designated as district and zone unit as per guidelines. A report was prepared to pay insurance for 4,24,559 acres in Kharif. The JDA was informed that the names of the farmers in the crop had been verified with the area webland data and approved. On this, JDA S Srinivasa Rao said that 1.33 lakh farmers are likely to get compensation next month. Another 7637 acres are to be surveyed based on Webland.

Megamela in three centers
The JDA said it was introducing new tractors at custom higher centers that lease farm machinery to farmers. In the first week of June, a mega mela will be organized at three selected centers in the district to display all kinds of machinery. Steps will also be taken to make rental tractors available at 208 farmer assurance centers from next kharif. So far, farmer committees in 149 centers have availed loans for tractors through PDCC Bank. He said the committees would soon inspect and assess the crop fields damaged by the cyclone.
